How credits work
Credits are consumed only for VIES live lookups, which hit the EU's live registry to confirm a VAT number is currently registered and return the business name and address. All format-only checks are always free and don't use credits.
New accounts receive 40 welcome credits. Every month your balance is automatically topped up. Cached VIES results cost fewer credits than fresh live queries.

By creating an account or using the Versys service you agree to these terms. These are concise and plain-English — the full legal detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
- Versys is for legitimate business compliance purposes (VAT validation, IBAN checking, BIN lookup).
- You may not use the service to scrape, republish, or resell data at scale without a Pro agreement.
- Automated high-volume use requires a Pro API key; anonymous IP-based rate limits apply to unregistered users.
- You must not attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or access other users' data.
Accuracy and liability
Versys provides validation results based on published standard formats and validation logic and data sourced from publicly available registries (VIES, HMRC). Results are provided in good faith but we do not guarantee accuracy or completeness. You remain responsible for your own compliance decisions. Versys shall not be liable for any financial, legal, or other losses arising from reliance on check results.
Account and data
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. We store minimal personal data — see our Privacy Policy for full details. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting privacy@versys.io.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after notice of changes constitutes acceptance.
